On March 1, 2022, at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Machines and Tools of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologie began the implementation of the international educational grant project Jean Monnet Actions under ERASMUS+ Programme ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH EUGreeCon - 101047527 of «EU consumer policy in conditions of the green and digital transition» (the head - Prof. Dyadyura K.O.) (2022-2025).

The project is interdisciplinary and will be implemented by teachers of two structural units of SumDU - the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies and Medical Institute (with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Hrebenyk L.I. and graduate student Smorodska O.M.).

The project aims to strengthen teaching and research in EU consumer policy in the context of strategic directions related to green and digital transformation. The project's objectives are aimed at creating an educational and information base for overcoming environmental, medical, economic, and social problems of safe consumption in Ukraine in the future.

High standards of consumer protection in the EU can be an example for other countries with less developed legislation. By signing the Association Agreement with the European Union, Ukraine has committed itself to ensure a high level of consumer protection and achieving compatibility with Ukrainian and EU legislation. The implementation of this project will create conditions for promoting the ideas of modern consumer policy of the European Union and strengthening the European ideological orientation of all stakeholders in Ukraine.

The project will be implemented by creating an interdisciplinary elective course, "EU Consumer Policy in a green and digital transition," for students of Sumy State University. The practical orientation of the new discipline will ensure that students acquire the necessary knowledge to exercise their rights and support the spread of European democratic principles in Ukraine. The project will also organize additional educational activities for students of other educational activities, the population of the Sumy region, and the regions of the north-eastern part of Ukraine, including public authorities and business representatives, NGOs, and consumers. The project results are designed to contribute to the transition to green and digital technologies and increase resilience as Europe recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
